Mekong Giant

A recently discovered, huge growing banana, reported to reach 40' in its native habitat of Yunnan, China. In northern climes it can easily reach 18’ to 20’ in one season. This selection is especially interesting as its trunk has red-to-purple streaks. Large mid-green leaves up to 12'.  Hardy to Zone 6 with some protection.  Possibly as hardy as Musa basjoo.
