BEGONIA rex
Spirit of Comores

This one deserves attention primarily for its foliage. ‘Spirit of Comores’ is a striking rhizomatous begonia with deeply textured, jagged foliage in near-black to deep green tones. Depending on the light, the leaves can take on an almost iridescent quality, giving the plant an exotic, jewel-like appearance. It makes an exceptional foliage component in a shaded combination planter, where its dark leaves provide contrast.
Grow in bright indirect light or shade, inwell-drained mix. Keep evenly moist but not wet and protect from cold temperatures. It appreciates humidity and is equally at home as a summer container plant or an unusual houseplant.
